Stephanie Dueño is a leader in youth education, program development, and community engagement in nonprofits and government agencies. About
Stephanie hails from Savannah, GA, but has lived in NYC since 2008. She has worked with museums, schools, community-based organizations, advocacy organizations, and government agencies. She has spent the last fifteen years developing trainings, curriculum and advocacy pathways in support of school-aged youth and youth impacted by the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. She is fluent in Spanish.
Areas of Focus
Education Transition Support: Working with youth, families, and agency stakeholders, to plan for significant educational and vocational transition points including reentry to community-based schools, the high school selection process, and transfers to appropriate school or vocational settings.
Special Education Advocacy: Special education advocacy, with an emphasis on navigating the NYC Department of Education special education processes, including initiating a new evaluation or reevaluation, requesting appropriate support services and identifying school placement.
Training and Curriculum Development: Developing training, curriculum and tools, for educators, students, and families across multiple disciplines. Previous training and curriculum topics include incorporating material culture into Common Core aligned K-12 classrooms, navigating issues of school discipline, and developing robust educational and career plans for middle and high school students.
